Cockroach infestation

Aderyn was called to investigate a Cockroach infestation at a wine bar. The owners were understandably concerned about the potential health risks and damage to their reputation so wanted a discreet and effective response to the infestation.

As part of an integrated response we set in place a course of treatments with the new wave of highly effective Cockroach gel baits and weekly monitoring visits. Within a very short time the infestation was under control without the customers ever knowing anything about the treatments. An annual monitoring contract was then put in place to maintain a pest free environment and prevent any further stress on the behalf of the owner.

From here we were called to investigate an insect infestation in a food warehouse as an emergency. The owners were understandably concerned about the potential damage to their stock if the infestation spread, so time was of the essence.

On our initial inspection it was discovered that the infestation was of Stegobium paniceum – Biscuit Beetle, at one time the most financially damaging pest species in this country! Once the pest species was confirmed, prompt action was required so as to stop the spread of the infestation. An integrated course of action saw the whole warehouse being treated with an “Ultra Low Volume” fogging machine to gain control of the flying adults, followed by a box by box, rack by rack search for the contaminated stock, which was promptly removed and destroyed.

All the racking was then treated with a residual insecticide. On the recommendation of our highly trained staff, stock rotation has been refined to help with early detection and the warehouse is now environmentally controlled to prevent the Biscuit Beetle from breeding. An annual monitoring contract was then put in place to maintain a pest free environment and prevent any further stress on the behalf of the owner.
